Steven M. Fincher named to Super Lawyers

Minneapolis-based Law & Politics, publishers of Super Lawyers magazines, announced that FDW Partner Steven M. Fincher has been named to the 2010 edition of Georgia Super Lawyers. Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor.

Fincher specializes in local government law, public finance, zoning, eminent domain (condemnation), school law, personnel and employment, development and redevelopment, and public affairs.

 

Currently, he serves as the general counsel for the Clayton County Water Authority; Clayton County Housing Authority; City of College Park; City of Jonesboro; City of Lake City; and City of McDonough. He has also served as the appointed attorney for local governmental entities in Fulton, Clayton, Henry and Fayette Counties, as well as special counsel for cities and counties throughout the state of Georgia.

Additionally, Fincher is a small business owner and serves as general counsel to a number of small and mid-size businesses.

As a litigator, Fincher has handled several precedent setting cases, including Holy Cross Lutheran Church Inc. v. Clayton County, in which he successfully defended county zoning ordinances; City of College Park v. Eastern Airlines Inc., in which he recovered $1 million from Atlanta for the City of College Park; and World Famous Dudley's Food & Spirits Inc., et al v. City of College Park, in which Fincher effectively removed strip clubs from College Park.  

Fincher works extensively with developers, boards of commissioners, as well as the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority. He has handled hundreds of millions of dollars in project financing for developers in addition to development and redevelopment projects for many cities.

Fincher's professional memberships include the State Bar of Georgia's School and College Section; Aviation Section and Local Government Section; and the Georgia Municipal Association City Attorney Section. Fincher also serves on the Clayton State University Foundation Board.
