He is a 1996 graduate of Indiana University School of Law, where he served as the Senior Articles Editor of the Federal Communications Law Journal and as a member of the Sherman Minton Moot Court Board. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for Judge Joseph A. Wilson, II of the Circuit Court of South Carolina. Following his clerkship in 1997, Denmark joined Haynesworth Sinkler Boyd P.A., a large South Carolina law firm where he represented SCANA Corporation and AT&T in regulatory proceedings and in employment litigation in federal court. In 1998, Denmark served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law where he taught legal research and writing to first year law students.

Denmark continued his utility practice when he joined the Atlanta office of Troutman Sanders, LLP in 1999, representing Southern Company and its affiliates in regulatory matters before state public service commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, DC. His practice also involved franchising and right-of-way acquisitions with local governments. In 2001, Denmark joined the DeKalb County Attorney’s office where he specialized in Section 1983 litigation in federal court. His work involved representing the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department and the DeKalb Police Department in lawsuits by detainees alleging excessive force, false arrest and various civil rights violations. Denmark also successfully litigated against the owners of multiple adult entertainment establishments for violation of DeKalb County ordinances.

Since joining Fincher Denmark & Williams in 2004, Denmark has honed his expertise in local government law. He routinely represents city officials in litigation involving land use and zoning, nuisance abatement, labor and employment, construction, taxation and alcohol licensing. He provides daily advice to department heads and city managers and serves as legal counsel at meetings of city council. Denmark has argued multiple cases to the Georgia Supreme Court for both private and local government clients.

Denmark is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and South Carolina Bar. He also serves on the board of Clayton Youth Leadership and the Southern Regional Hospital Foundation.
